Layers
We cultivate six hectares of vineyards around Leiwen, on steep slopes and gentler slopes.
Our Burgundy and red wines mature on gently sloping hillsides.
The oldest Riesling vines are over 60 years old.
The Laurentiuslay in Leuwen
The steep slope in Leiwen is known as the Leiwener Laurentiuslay. Mineral-rich, full-bodied and quintessentially Mosel Rieslings mature on blue Devonian slate.
Our Poesie wines “No ifs, ands or buts” and “For almost always and everywhere” , “For the here and now” have their origins here
The Piesport Gold Droplet
Wines from this vineyard are world-famous and are characterised by a high concentration of aromas and a particularly delicate fruitiness.
This is due to the south-south-westerly aspect of this steep slope. The sun shines here all day long. Deep, heavily weathered clay-shale soils form the basis for these expressive wines
Mehringer Zellerberg
Grey Devonian shale and very old vines are characteristic of these vineyards.
A sufficient water supply enables us to produce high-quality, sweet wines even in very dry years.
The Leiwen Monastery Garden
The vineyards around Leiwen are characterised by a variety of soil types.
Our Burgundy wines, light Rieslings and Pinot Noir red and rosé wines thrive in the vineyards, some of which are flat or gently sloping.
